Melissa has been a part of the Fitness Crossroad community since 2003, when her family joined as members. During her time at Fitness Crossroad she has met wonderful people and cultivated friendships that she values immensely. Her three children have literally grown up at the club -- going to childcare, camps, karate class and making their own friends along the way. While she has taught at various places around the Twin Cities, Fitness Crossroad truly feels like home.
A group fitness instructor since 2005, Melissa has taught a variety of formats including cardio kickboxing, spinning, step, boot camp, sculpt and yoga -- as well as classes for active older adults. Her training and certifications include NETA Group Fitness, Spinning Indoor Cycling and EnhanceFitness (an exercise program for active older adults). Melissa completed her 230-hour Registered Yoga Teacher training through a year-long program at the Yoga Center of Minneapolis in 2011.
While she enjoys teaching yoga and fitness in many forms, she has a special interest in working with prenatal and postnatal mamas. She is trained in Prenatal Yoga and as a birth doula, and is actively involved in the local birth community. Melissa loves working with mamas-to-be and supporting them -- both through their journeys of healthy, peaceful pregnancies -- and throughout motherhood. Melissa is passionate about making health and fitness a fun and accessible part of people's real lives. Most of all, she loves connecting with and encouraging the people in her classes, and is truly grateful to be even a small part of the healthy choices they make each day.
In addition to teaching classes, Melissa has been involved in many aspects of the club including communications, web and social media. She lives in St. Anthony Village with her husband Trent and their three children.
